You might not want to use your shower pouf ever again after reading this!

Because new research has revealed that they’re actually a haven for bacteria, which kind of counteracts the whole shower thing, given the intention tends to be to emerge clean.
Dermatologists warn that the netted poufs are a breeding ground for bacteria which, due to the moisture and heat in bathrooms, is actually able to reproduce in just one night. Which I think we can all agree is pretty grim.
Matthew Knight, M.D. from the Knight Dermatology Institute explained to Women’s Health Magazine that all the dead skin cells you’re exfoliating off lurk in the tiny holes in the netting.
“Then you put them in this environment in the shower that’s warm and moist and gross, and it’s a set up for bacteria, yeast, and mould to grow”.
And then we go and CLEAN ourselves with it. Why has no-one told us this sooner?
And more good news; the bacteria is likely to be worse if you’re scrubbing freshly-shaved skin, because if you’ve caught yourself on the razor and have any tiny nicks, that can lead to the bacteria gaining direct entry into your body and could lead to infections.
