Dealing
with excess hair on your face,
underarms, bikini area, legs,
and/or your back can be a time
consuming, embarrassing, and annoying
process. Laser hair removal is
an easy, reasonably painless,
long term way to reduce hair in
any problem area.
Laser Hair Removal
Information and Process
Laser hair removal uses a long-pulsed
Nd:YAG laser (Candela®
GentleYAG) to quickly remove
unwanted hair. During the treatment
process the skin is protected
with a light cryogen cooling spray.
The Candela®
GentleYAG laser is then applied
to the skin in pulses until the
entire area has been treated.
The laser may briefly feel hot
and a slight stinging sensation
my follow. Massage is often used
following the treatment to minimize
any discomfort.
-
Each laser hair removal
and reduction procedure can
take anywhere from ten to
sixty minutes depending on
the size of the area to be
treated.
-
The laser hair removal and
reduction treatments may need
to be repeated every four
to eight weeks depending on
the desired final result.
More Details about Laser Hair
Removal and Reduction
Laser hair removal can be preformed
on most skin tones. Certain types
of hair are more easily removed
than other types. Underarm hair,
bikini areas, and legs are quite
easily treated, while facial hair
is more difficult to remove. Most
often the desired result can be
achieved in between three to ten
visits.
Hair color also plays a large
roll in how easily hair can be
removed. White and light colored
hair is much more difficult to
remove than darker hair. More
treatments and maintenance are
typically needed for fair colored
hair and some very light hairs
cannot be treated at all. Since
hair is continuously growing,
extra touch up treatments may
be needed.
Laser Hair Removal Results
While the overall process is
reasonably painless, there may
be some pink shading or reddening
of the treated area after the
procedure. Makeup can be applied
after the treatment and the area
can be shaved as well. Waxing,
bleaching and plucking should
not be done prior to the treatment
or in between treatments, and
only gentle cleansers should be
used. It typically takes two to
four weeks for the hair follicle
to fall out completely following
the treatment.
